The images of the crucified man can be seen between the scorch marks. Also shown are water stains resulting from water thrown onto the box containing the Shroud after the fire and 16 patches used to repair one burned corner of the Shroud, as it was folded in the box. It shows two long scorch marks caused by a fire in 1532 when it was in Chambery, France. In Figure 1, the top image shows the Shroud as it would normally be seen. This claim is supported by the full-size front and dorsal (back) images of a man who was crucified exactly as Jesus was crucified according to the Gospels in the New Testament, yet extensive testing in 1978 indicated these images are not due to pigment, scorch, liquid, or photography. Many people regard this cloth to be a holy relic because ancient tradition has long claimed it to be the authentic burial cloth of Jesus Christ. It is about as thick as a T-shirt (about 0.35 mm) and is very pliable. The Shroud is a linen cloth about 14 ft 4 in. Thus, the Shroud of Turin refers to a particular burial cloth that has been in Turin, Italy, since 1578. Turin, also called Torino, is a city in northwestern Italy. What Is the Shroud of Turin?Ī shroud is a piece of cloth in which a person is buried. The purpose of this article is to encourage the development of a program for future testing of the Shroud. It also includes the author’s hypothesis to explain the main mysteries of the Shroud. This article provides an overview of the Shroud, including its images, history, materials, and previous testing. That is now starting to change due to four recent papers on statistical analysis published in peer-reviewed journals. In the 1980s, the Shroud was briefly headline news around the world, but for reasons that will be discussed later, the Shroud has received little media attention for the last three decades. The June 1980 edition of National Geographic included a 24-page article with a four-page foldout of the Shroud. It has been featured on the cover of US News and World Report (1 March 2002) and Time magazine (20 April 1998). The Shroud of Turin is one of the most mysterious and potentially significant items in human possession. How was this image formed? When was it made? Who made it? Is this an image of a real person? Could this be an image of the man known as Jesus Christ? Could this be the authentic burial cloth of Jesus? These are just a few of the questions that arise. In 1931, a professional photographer named Giuseppe Enri pointed his camera at a piece of cloth called the Shroud of Turin and took the picture shown. Black Panther is a stunning achievement for Marvel, and it’s one well worth revisiting just to soak in the attention to detail-both in terms of superheroics and complex themes-that Coogler threads throughout. Jordan brings to life one of the MCU’s best and most emotionally complex villains to date. That in and of itself makes Black Panther noteworthy, but the film also boasts terrific performances from folks like Letitia Wright and Lupita Nyong’o, while Michael B. Creed and Fruitvale Station filmmaker Ryan Coogler digs into themes of isolationism and what it mean to be black in America within the context of an extremely exciting, visually enthralling superhero action film. Marvel Studios has an excellent track record of crafting supremely entertaining movies, but Black Panther marks the MCU’s most mature, ambitious, and thematically complete film yet. Thrilling, beautifully shot and deliciously nauseating in that uncanny valley way, Cam is a tightly crafted trip down the rabbit hole of identity. Writer Isa Mazzei previously worked as a cam girl herself and that unique perspective lends a sense of respect and dignity to sex workers that is too often missing in their on-screen depictions. Led by The Handmaid's Tale star Madeline Brewer, Cam follows an ambitious online sex worker who wakes up to a nightmare when she tries to log onto her camming account and discovers her identity has been taken over by an exact replica. Clever to boot, a bit sexy, and demented in all the right ways Cam is a refreshing, candid look at the cost of our online identities and the terror of losing your sense of self. This vibrant little dopplegänger thriller earned a cult of enthusiastic fans when it made the festival rounds this year, where it was immediately scooped up by Netflix out of Fantasia. Haleigh FoutchĬast: Madeline Brewer, Samantha Robinson, Patch Darragh, Melora Walters, Imani Hakim, Devin Druid It’s an intriguing tale in its own right, but Shirkers’ secret weapon are the women themselves and their complicated creative relationship, which gives the documentary a shine of crackling personality, making it a true pleasure to watch. When the film was recovered 20 years later, Tan took it upon herself to give their lost film new life in the form of a documentary, which uses footage from the original 16mm print along with plenty of nostalgia-packed memorabilia from their teen years to tell the tale of the making, loss and recovery of the film that should have been. In 1992, Sandi Tan and her friends Sophia Siddique Harvey and Jasmine Kin Kia Ng (who is one of the most downright charming, hilarious people to be on screen this year) made Singapore’s first indie film “Shirkers,” but took a devastating blow when their creepazoid mentor Georges Cardona disappeared with the footage. The fascinating tale focuses on the case of a stolen film and it’s a doozy. – Matt GoldbergĪ little bit punk rock, a little bit whimsical, and lovable all the way through, Shirkers is one of the more delightful documentaries in recent memory. Even if you’re not a Coen Brothers die-hard, there’s still plenty to enjoy and ponder in their Netflix movie. While folks will argue over which shorts are the best (I personally haven’t been able to shake “The Gal Who Got Rattled”), even the weakest Coens is better than the best work of other filmmakers. The anthology movie contains six stories of varying tone from the riotous “Ballad of Buster Scruggs” to the deeply melancholy “Meal Ticket”, but they all have something do with death, with the western genre used as a cohesive baseline. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs may not go down as an all-time great Coen Brothers movie, but it helps to crystalize their themes on death and morality as clearly as some of their best works. Cast: Tim Blake Nelson, Tyne Daly, James Franco, Brendan Gleeson, Bill Heck, Grainger Hines, Zoe Kazan, Harry Melling, Liam Neeson, Jonjo O’Neill, Chelcie Ross, Saul Rubinek, Tom Waits, Clancy Brown, Jefferson Mays, Stephen Root, and Willie Watson

All you need to do is hit the "Get Windows" button while setting up the VM, and select your edition and language. That's why VMware Fusion is adding a "Get Windows" capability that will download ARM Windows 11 for you in addition to whatever display and networking drivers you might need. The fact that the computer is ARM-based means that you also need a copy of Windows 11 that works on ARM, which takes a bit more effort to hunt down than an ISO for your regular, run-of-the-mill x86 Windows 11. Perhaps the biggest improvement, however, is how easy the process of installing Windows 11 on the VM is getting. The update is also improving file transfers between the host machine and the virtual machine with support for drag and drop and copy/paste between both systems. There's now support for DirectX 11 3D graphics, something that represents a huge leap for graphics compatibility and gaming in the virtual machine. It's packed with a lot of improvements that closes the functionality gap between VMware Fusion and Parallels. The new major Parallels Desktop version 19.0.0 (build 54570) delivers the following improvements: All editions of Parallels Desktop 19 for Mac. See link for more information.VMware Fusion, the version of the popular virtualization software VMware for Macs, has just released version 13.5. At the moment, Windows 10 can be downloaded and used without purchase. Note: All these options including running Windows 10. I personally don't have experience with Boot Camp, but I hope the links below can give you some guidance! I personally use VMWare Horizons since my university provides a subscription to it. Hi are the options for accessing Alteryx on Mac that my university assembled. Took me two days because this laptop had over 100 (more like 30) tabs opened and it took a while. I took two screenshots for a better idea.ĥ. Then Boot Camp paused the set up and said it was compatible with newer version of Windows 10 (I was using Windows 2010 ) only. Somehow, I accidentally deleted the Crossover s massive fiolder and reinstalled it. But it drops support for macOS Monterey 12.6 and earlier releases. This is such an interesting time to be a Parallels customer: macOS Monterey release imminent, Windows 11 released on October 5 th, iOS and iPadOS 15 released, Parallels Desktop 16.5 and Parallels Desktop 17 released in 2021, Windows on ARM, TPM chips, M1 Mac computers, Intel Mac computers, high-priority security patches from Apple and Microsoft, and more with what sometimes seems like. The Pro Edition is 129.99 per year, while the Business Edition is 149.99 per year. Turned out I was out of memory and cleaned up space and Tried again. Parallels Desktop 18 is sold either as a subscription for 99.99 per year or as a perpetual license for 129.99. I currently reside on university campus, so I clearly use my school's free WiFi instead of my own modem with better protection with SSH and Raspberry Pi. That's when I froze and explored other options.Ĥ. I followed along with everything the page Chad redirected me to, and downloaded a Windows emulator, Crossover. ( I've had VB in my laptop for 2 years).Ģ. Let us know if you can install it using the March-released installer. Note: The update can take a few minutes to download and complete. Yes, I followed with the fact that Alteryx runs on Windows, and that there are two ways to install Alteryx on a Mac: The Boot Camp and VirtualBox and the likes. The software should be able to be updated to the latest April version after the installation: Open MetaTrader 5 -> in the top bar, click 'Help' -> 'Check Desktop Updates' -> 'Latest Release version'. I'd like to post it on here for the first time before joining the community because it is, although should not be, embarrassing for me.ġ. Right pain in the butt.Īll this coming from someone who's been with Arturia since the original miniMoog and Moog Modular came out.īTW - it took literally hours to get all the update downloads for VC5 yesterday and I'm on what is normally a fast Verizon FIOS connection. The old names were sorted by the sound designer and they removed that as well as changing some of the names themselves. Then I saw the upgrade price and thought :eek::eek: I'll wait until sometime next year when it drops down to sane levels AND Arturia works out the inevitable bugs their beta testing misses.Īs to the old presets missing for the most part they are there but they changed the naming convention. The DX7 hopefully is as good as it looks - I've had FM7 and now FM8 for years and while they sound pretty good making sounds on them ain't easy fro someone who had an actual DX7-IID. I still like their stuff, but some of the shine has definitely worn off. When I got the email yesterday and watched the video with the new synths I thought this is great - finally we have a true Fairlight CMI (not the one from UVI which isn't even close) that has resynthesis. Do I think I'll bother upgrading my Arturia for €199? No I don't think so. For example IK Multimedia recently released Syntronik Instruments (). At least they had a decent Black Friday 50% off upgrade sale this year so I finally upgraded Komplete 9.Ĭompetition is fierce out there. Native Instruments is similar in this respect. Make it €99 max and I'll give it serious consideration. Trying to charge loyal customers €199 for the upgrade is a slap in the face. That's why the street price has been $249 for the last year or two. Not many are going to stomach the full price for the suite at $499 or whatever it is. I don't know what is with these companies who are bringing these constant near full price upgrade costs, version after version. Humm, that sounds a bit lack lustre from Arturia with compatibility as well as pricing. I still like their stuff, but some of the shine has definitely worn off. Plus, I've never not had issues with Mini V running in PT, on both win and mac. I've been a Mini V owner for years, and they apparently changed (to standardize, I guess) the preset format from V4 to V5, so none of my old Mini V presets work without serious hassle, and they removed the stock ones I liked the best. I'm a recent V5 owner and I'm seeing 199 as an upgrade, which for me is a pass. I will pass on the $199 offer ( thats too overpriced already for an upgrade IMO), and I surely will not be paying $400 dollars later on for it thats for sure, so I guess thats a NO from me for the upgrade. I think that $199 is already too expensive for an upgrade, especially after Black Friday's spend up, and now being this close to the xmas season and i am not paying that money for what V6 is offering. Regarding the $199 V6 upgrade, I am actually happy with my current range of instruments (except their piano), nor can I afford to be spending another $199 right now for V6 either. , Does that mean its the same terrible piano but with 3 new presets, I won't know, therefore I will have to let others be the judge of those ? Other notable thoughts of V5 is the V5 Piano to me was a real DUD compared to others I already owned (I hated it actually and thought of it as cringeworthy), and now V6 is saying they have added 3 more piano emulation tones to it and compressor (big deal) "to the existing piano in V5". I just hope these Gui improvements translate through to my V5 instruments as well. Now though in V6, Arturia are bragging about the GUI improvements, so I guess I was not the only one who must have been complaining. Downloading updates for v5 now as i type, I am just happy the GUI is apparently fixed in Solina and the Vox continental (guess i will have to wait and see if it's better)as the Vox and Solina GUI's were so blurry for me, It was almost unusable and gave me a headache just looking at them on the screen, and they were my 2 favourite instruments of the lot.Īfter upgrading from v4 to v5, I did contact Arturia support a few times asking when they would fix the blurriness of Solina and Vox and they would never acknowledge it was blurry, and even though they issued many updates for those instruments, they never got around to fixing those blurry GUI's. |
